Medical Editor, Speech Recognition Editor, Healthcare Documentation Specialist
Location: Memphis, TN VA Medical Center
Schedule: Various shifts available. Coverage may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and Federal holidays based on VA scheduling requirements.
Contract length: 1 year with ext option, start april 1/ 2027
Pay: $30/hr
Benefits: 10 days PTO, Accrued sick days, Paid Holidays, Health & welfare $5.42 (prorated based on hours worked)
Status: Position contingent upon contract award
Job Description
Lumbee Group is recruiting a Medical Transcriptionist with Pathology/Laboratory experience for an anticipated federal healthcare contract supporting the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Medical Transcriptionist will provide transcription support within a Pathology and Laboratory Medicine environment.
Responsibilities may include:
Transcribe medical documentation from oral dictation.
Work with voice-recognition software.
Prepare accurate medical and laboratory documentation.
Review transcription for accuracy and completeness.
Support pathology and laboratory documentation processes.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and medical information.
Follow applicable VA privacy, information-security, and documentation requirements.
Requirements
Appropriate Medical Transcriptionist experience.
Previous experience working in Pathology/Laboratory is preferred and directly relevant to the requirement.
Equivalent Medical Transcriptionist experience may also qualify.
Ability to accurately transcribe from oral dictation.
Experience using voice-recognition software.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Must reside within 75 miles of the Memphis VA Medical Center.
Must provide a current resume detailing relevant experience.
